History of Stokes
‘A new chapter for Stokes with three centuries of innovation’
As we move into the 21st century, Stokes continues a tradition of uncompromising quality set by its founder in 1856. Thomas Stokes built the business around his skills as a Diesinker and Electroplater.
Over the years Stokes played an important role in Australia’s cultural and industrial development, manufacturing products as diverse as the gas lamps that illuminated Victoria’s Parliament House and the original “Rising Sun” badges worn by the Australian Army.
Over the years Stokes quickly gained a reputation for outstanding craftsmanship and quality products; a reputation that still exists today.
With the onset of the 1950’s, the company diversified into manufacturing components for the booming automotive and domestic appliance industries. Its tradition of engineering excellence and innovative design saw it become one of Australia’s leading suppliers.
Today Stokes is an Australian publicly listed company (SKS), providing innovative technologies, products and solutions with offices and representatives throughout Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
Stokes Technologies is an integral part of Stokes and nationally distributes innovative LED lighting products and audiovisual products and solutions.
The Stokes Board and Management have established a clear direction to improve shareholder value through potential growth opportunities within the industry. This includes the superior execution, manufacturing and distribution of innovative technology products.
